Economics

The Department of Economics carries out several lines of research in two main fields: macroeconomics, finance and development and applied microeconomics and public policy. Within the first field, the main research themes are: macroeconomics, growth, employment and income distribution in Argentina and Latin America; exchange rate regimes and development, central banking in Latin America; demography, growth and the global financial architecture; capital controls and financial stability; and macroeconomic policy in Mercosur. Within the second field, the research themes are: organization, financing and equity in the Argentine health system; reform experiences in the health system in Latin America and the Caribbean; health priority interventions; the pharmaceutical sector; regulatory policy; pension systems in Latin America and natural resources and the environment.
