As we know, many worthwhile
initiatives by non-governmental organizations in the country are unable
to access financing owing to certain limitations in their management
and administrative structure. The projects they present aim to satisfy
social, cultural, educational needs, public health issues, etc. However,
the perception that they will not be able to fully confront the challenges
in administration and management ultimately places serious restrictions
on their opportunities for financial support that they legitimately
need and would likely receive were it not for their institutional
weaknesses.
With the idea of constituting a link between civil society organizations
and donors and financial organizations, the Project Management, Monitoring,
and Evaluation Program (PGME) is designed to supervise the activities
involved in management: technical assistance for the project design,
the design and control of budgets, the administration of funds, and
the presentation of financial and accounting reports, as well as other
areas as the case may be.
Thus, the Program provides a professional service to other organizations
that would allow them to improve their chances and strengthen their
abilities to develop research and intervention projects that would
benefit public interest initiatives.
It is a multidisciplinary program –integrating the practices
and knowledge of all of the departments at CEDES– whose specific
mission targets the management of third-party projects. Created in
2003, the PGME counts with the support of CEDES’s experience
as an academic and research Institution, as well as its structure
in project management and control in the national and international
sphere.
Almost thirty years of institutional activities has provided CEDES
with extensive experience in a wide range of related activities: proposal
presentation, report making, the dissemination of findings, the design
and control of budgets, together with accounting supervision and accountability.
Likewise, the Institution has expertise in technical assistance, project
evaluation and consultancy for third parties in Argentina and the
rest of Latin America.
At the same time, CEDES’s participation in agreements with other
institutions and organizations, often with a leading rol, makes it
possible to understand and deal with inter-institutional dynamics
of diverse kinds.
The PGME results from the integration of all these skills and institutional
experiences within a coherent and centralized framework through which
we seek to provide excellence in service to other organizations. |
CEDES (Centro de Estudios de
Estado y Sociedad) is a non-profit organization, founded in 1975 by
a group of professionals coming from the social sciences aimed at
building a space for the production of critical, independent, and
pluralistic knowledge. Its mission is to strengthen social sciences
research in Argentina and Latin America and to promote the dissemination
and application of the findings. In this way, it hopes to contribute
to economic and social development, the deepening of democracy, and
the promotion of human rights and social and gender equity.
